This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have significant experience in specialist technical skills, or managerial business and people management skills.

Individuals in these roles carry out complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, leading a team or a strategic direction of a business. They apply their skills across a wide range of industries and business functions, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor).

The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to:

  • advanced data management information: creating, designing and monitoring complex systems that store data, and optimising organisational knowledge management
  • cyber security: protecting sensitive data and information through security architecture, and developing disaster recovery and contingency plans
  • full stack web development: building advanced user interfaces, developing representational state transfer application program interfaces (REST APIs) and designing user experience solutions
  • further programming: applying advanced ICT languages to maintain security and manage data
  • IT strategy and organisational development: managing and communicating strategic ICT business solutions
  • systems development and analysis: modelling and testing data objects, data processes and preferred ICT system solutions
  • telecommunications network engineering: managing logistics, organisational specifications, regulations and legislative requirements across network projects.

International students

International students

Whilst there are no entry requirements specified in the training package, ABCI requires the following course entry criteria to be met:

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of commencement; and
  • Successful completion of Australian Year 12 qualification or equivalent; and
  • Hold a valid and current study visa; and
  • Hold a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent; and
  • Participate in a suitability interview prior to enrolment and be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm and ability to undertake this qualification.

In addition, applicants must:

  • Have access to a personal laptop with access to MS Office or similar.

To attain the qualification ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, 16 units of competency must be completed.

This qualification provides a potential pathway for employment as any of the following:

Students may enter this qualification with no prior experience or qualifications.
After satisfactory completion of this qualification, a student may progress to higher education courses.

ABCI recognises all AQF qualifications issued by another Registered Training Organisation. Credit transfer will be granted upon presentation of certified copies of qualifications. ABCI reserves the right to confirm the authenticity of any qualifications presented for credit transfer.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be recognised upon successful completion of an RPL assessment in accordance with ABCI policy. If RPL is awarded, a student may receive credits towards their qualification and course duration will be adjusted accordingly.
